The Great Egmont Key Cleanup was a HUGE Success. 177 volunteers collected over 23,240 lbs. of debris left behind by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the fall of 2024!
Suncoast Aqua Ventures, along with The Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Egmont Key Alliance collaborated for three months planning this very large scale and desperately needed cleanup.
Volunteers arrived on 3 different ferries, and over 100 people came on private vessels. Numerous partners provided support with dumpsters, barges and boats to haul the trash and 2 boats with cranes to lift the heavy bags from the beach to transport vessels. We provided all the supplies needed, and a fantastic free lunch as a reward for our volunteers for their efforts. Thank you to all who participated!
