In 1970 my family moved from Michigan to Florida… I was 10 years old… I remember being immediately fascinated with the water and all the amazing creatures that lived in the Gulf of Mexico.
When I 12 years old, my father took us on a family trip to the Florida Keys, and I was completely hooked.
I’ve come to love the Tampa Bay and surrounding area, and I think it’s one of the most amazing places in the world to live… This appreciation lead to my dedication of keeping natural places unspoiled and free of evidence of human activity… As a scuba diver I noticed so much trash underwater.
I remember about 12 years ago I participated in a competitive cleanup at Mote Marine on a much smaller scale than our Reef and Beach cleanup that we started six years ago.
I remember the thrill of competition and decided to set up a competitive trash cleanup event, which has grown immensely and resulted in thousands of pounds of trash, removed from our local waters and shoreline‘s…
We have a great team of volunteers and we are all dedicated to the cause of keeping your environment clean both for the aesthetic value and also keeping our precious marine life from injury from trash we discard that ends up on our shoreline and underwater.
From my previous business experience in town, I’ve reached out to several business and civic organizations that have been great financial supporters which has enabled our small organization to grow by leaps and bounds, and to continue our worthy cause of keeping our shorelines and underwater free from human trash.
I strongly recommend local businesses and volunteer organizations become involved in our worthy cause !
Our motto summarizes our mantra.
“Keeping our land and sea free from debris”
